Kuo indicated that by proactively striving for the chance to host the event, NSYSU hopes participants to not only engage in depth discussion on international higher education and collaboration but to enjoy Taiwan’s delicacies, art, history, and local culture.

Besides the conference and exhibition, APAIE 2017 has also organized complementary campus tours for participants to visit Taiwan’s renowned universities and engage in direct discussion with the school. The campus tours include the following universities: National Sun Yat-sen University, Kaohsiung Medical University, National Cheng Kung University, National Chung Cheng University, National Chung Hsing University, National Tsing Hua University, and National Chiao Tung University. The interactions provide opportunities to form international alliances and to learn from others’ international experience, which supported connections and collaborations among institutions. APAIE can also provide chances to promote Taiwan’s education development and higher education achievements to other countries.

NSYSU is one of the founding members of APAIE and the only Taiwan representative in the APAIE committee. APAIE 2017 is the second time that Taiwan hosted the APAIE conference and exhibition. Since the APAIE debuted in Taiwan in 2011 at Taipei, the scale of the event has multiplied. The co-hosts of APAIE 2017 are NSYSU Alliance Universities, including Kaohsiung Medical University, National Cheng Kung University, National Chung Hsing University, and National Chung Cheng University.

APAIE was founded in 2005 at Korea University, with founding members comprising renowned universities from 13 regions, including Japan, U.S., Australia, Taiwan, and China.
