New industry-academia collaboration tied between NSYSU and the rubber industry

New opportunities await the students of chemistry and science at NSYSU! On November 26th, 2019, International PhD Program for Science and the Department of Chemistry, NSYSU, jointly organized a short Taiwan-India Rubber Industry Forum in the International Building of NSYSU, inviting representatives of one of the leading companies of the rubber industry in Taiwan: International CSRC Investment Holdings (CSRC), located in Kaohsiung, and its Indian partner – Indian Rubber Manufacturers Research Association (IRMRA). The forum celebrated the signing of an MOU on cooperation between the International PhD Program for Science and the Department of Chemistry with CSRC. This collaboration will give scholarship and employment opportunities for students of the Program and the Department.

The Dean of the College of Science Prof. Ming-Jung Wu said, that scholarships for a period of at least two years will be awarded to students of the International PhD Program for Science and the Department of Chemistry at NSYSU. Moreover, the University will continue to recruit Indian students. “It’s a very good chance of industry-academia cooperation”, admitted Zona Lin – the Brand Marketing Manager of CSRC. “I hope to see you in our company in the future”, she said to the participating students. Her colleague, Assistant Manager Dr. James Li, gave a speech presenting the company and its technology of the of carbon black production, indispensable for industrial use and tires. Director of IRMRA Dr. K. Rajkumar, in his speech, presented the contribution of the Association to the steadily growing rubber industry in India, which is one of the biggest producers and consumers of rubber in the world.

This is another collaboration tied by NSYSU in recent months. To promote internationalization of the academic environment, broaden students’ horizons and burst the potential of the academic research by providing the students and staff with diverse opportunities, the University has been steadily investing in industry-academia collaboration, tied collaborations with many overseas universities and organized numerous conferences inviting speakers from all over the world to share their knowledge and experience.
