First-prize winning video of the “Love Nature” competition
(Provided by College of Management) Let’s protect the environment together! NSYSU students initiated “Love Nature”, a video production competition to draw attention to the issues of environmental protection and sustainable developments. One of the videos – “Embrace the Mountains, Embrace the Sea” (包山包海) introduced the topics of fauna and flora protection in the Chaishan Mountain and the problem of marine debris. Observing the surrounding environment, the students realized the importance of the education on sustainability.
Students of the international programs at the College of Management, NSYSU, organized the “Love Nature” video production competition and invited students to submit a 5-minute video, sharing ideas about environmental protection. Zhanna Samodurova, President of Student Association of International Programs at the College of Management, said that it is very important to find harmony between the human development and the natural environment, especially on our campus that is located between mountains and the sea with rich biodiversity. Dang Phuong Thao from Vietnam, Vice President of Student Association of International Programs at the College of Management, said she is proud of studying at a university with a global vision that attaches importance to environmental protection and works towards Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.
Justine Jude Cerpo Pura, student of the GHRM MBA program from the Philippines, won the first prize with the video entitled “Tai-one in Nature”, filming scenes of interaction between monkeys and students hiking in Chaishan and the nearby Sizih Bay. With his message on environmental protection and natural heritage conservation, he brought up a question – “We were all educated about nature conservation, but did we really fulfill it?”.
Students from Vietnam - Le Ngoc Bich Thuy (GHRM MBA program) and Truong Lam Huong (IBMBA program) formed a group to shoot the video “Gone with the Wind”, with monkey puppets as actors, depicting the NSYSU campus with a humorous story line and praising Taiwan for its conservation of the environment and wildlife. The team hoped that the video will make viewers appreciate our environment and take action to help Taiwan become an even more beautiful place. Because this second-prize winning video was the most-viewed video on social platforms, it has also received an additional prize - Social Media Award.
The winners of the third-prize - Hua-I Tseng (IBMBA program) and Liang-Wei Su (Institute of Public Affairs Management) from Taiwan shot a video “Ocean Innovation”, in which they introduced the problem of marine debris in the form of interviews. According to their survey, 80% of coastal cities face the problem of marine debris and all 51 measuring spots detected microplastics. It’s high time we take action!, they said. The team believes that many little actions together can form an effective strategy to solve the problem of marine debris, thus, they called on everybody to pool wisdom for mutual benefit and contribute to environmental protection.
