Clarivate Analytics announced the newest Highly Cited Researchers global list on November 20th and assistant professor of the Department of Physics at NSYSU Shin-Ming Huang listed as 2019 Highly Cited Researcher. His areas of specialty include condensed matter physics, superconductivity, topological physics.

Clarivate Analytics lists the researchers according to the SCIE/SSCI index, selecting the most influential scholars in the academic circle. Those who appear on the list rank in the top 1% by citations for their academic field and year, which indicates their influence among peers. This year, a total of 17 scholars from Taiwan were listed under the following fields: Medicine, Engineering, Geosciences, Materials Science, Mathematics, Physics, eight scholars were also listed under the Cross-Field category, which shows the outstanding performance of Taiwanese scholars in a variety of fields and significant impact of their research.

The global list of highly cited researchers uses the data provided by InCites and ESI. The researchers are selected for their exceptional performance in one or more of 21 fields or across several fields. In the case of multidisciplinary journals such as Nature and Science, by a paper-by-paper assignment to a field based on an analysis of the cited references in the papers. This percentile-based selection method removes the citation advantage of older papers relative to recently published ones, since papers are weighed against others in the same annual cohort.
