Te-Ho Yen (on the right), graduate of the EMBA program at the College of Management as of 2017, was awarded the Outstanding Alumnus Award in the category of Business Elite. He has been managing his stainless steel enterprise for over 30 years and succeeded in expanding it overseas. Te-Ho Yen worked on its features, transformation, development, and product diversification and won the trust of clients. Besides, he has been attentive to public affairs for many years and donated funds to the government’s relief subsidies and for rural education. Yen also donated funds to his alma mater for the remodeling of the classrooms of the College of Management to provide a better study environment to the students.Hsuan-Mao Robert Hu (on the right) – President of Anatek Enterprise Co., LTD., a BS graduate of the Department of Chemistry (class of 1989), was conferred the 2020 Outstanding Alumnus Award. Hu established Anatek Enterprise, applying his knowledge in chemical technologies for environmental protection and focused on the sale of instruments. Rooted in Taiwan and based the company in Kaohsiung, Hu has been steadily shaping the global market. Hu spared no efforts to support the Department of Chemistry. He employed several NSYSU alumni, trained them for managerial positions, donated funds for scholarships, and implemented industry resources to build up students’ understanding of the industry.The awardee in the category of Social Service is Chung-Hui Huang (on the right) – Chairman of Ba Ba Business and graduate of EMBA program (class of 2013). Huang has been managing Ba Ba Business since its establishment in 1988 when it started as a sales representative. Later on, he transformed the company, established a factory, and integrated upstream, midstream, and downstream sectors. As the company achieved success, Huang did not forget its social responsibility: he responded to the healthcare needs of southern Taiwan and supported the establishment of the medical school by donating funds for the construction of the building for medical education and encouraging more alumni and companies to inject funds into the development of the College of Medicine.Outstanding alumnus in the category of Culture and Arts is Winston Lee (on the right), a graduate of the Department of Foreign Languages and Literature of 1994, who is now the President of Taiwan Twine and Rope Co., Ltd. When he was a student, Lee participated in the Grand English Drama of the Department of Foreign Languages and Literature. After achieving success in management and production, he has been donating funds to support the yearly performance of the Drama. Thanks to his generous support, the tradition of Grand English Drama could continue until now, helping enhance students’ English language abilities as well as cultivate their artistic spirit, and introducing Broadway musicals to the public.Winner of the 2020 Outstanding Alumni Award in the category of Academic Excellence is Jiranuwat Swaspitchayaskun, a graduate of the master program at the Institute of Mainland China Studies (2007) and of the doctoral program at the Institute of China and Asia-Pacific Studies (2014). He now is the Associate Dean of the Faculty of Humanities at Naresuan University in Thailand. (Provided by Alumni Service Center) NSYSU organized the 2020 Outstanding Alumni Awards Ceremony. The awardees this year were Jiranuwat Swaspitchayaskun – Associate Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Naresuan University in Thailand, Te-Ho Yen – Chairman of Yuen Chang Stainless Steel Co., Ltd., Hsuan-Mao Robert Hu – President of Anatek Enterprise Co., LTD, Chung-Hui Huang – Chairman of Ba Ba Business, and Winston Lee – President of Taiwan Twine and Rope Co., Ltd. The University also invited Outstanding Alumni who were awarded this title in previous years to celebrate NSYSU’s 40th anniversary.
NSYSU President Ying-Yao Cheng gave a welcoming speech saying that many alumni have demonstrated outstanding performance, making him proud and proving the great results of the University’s education. President Cheng said that the University’s 40th anniversary is a joyful event to celebrate and although NSYSU is small in scale, it has demonstrated excellent performance in many fields, ranking top 5th in Taiwan according to QS World University Rankings by Subject, with 17 subjects ranked, and 5th best in Taiwan according to the Ranking by Global Views Monthly, being the only one which rank has been improving every year. NSYSU ranked top for graduates’ leadership and adaptability according to the ranking by 104 Job Bank. These rankings prove the acknowledgment and expectations of society for NSYSU. President Cheng also expressed special thanks to the participating alumni for their efforts and achievements that made the University be noticed.
Chairman of Yuen Chang Stainless Steel Co. Te-Ho Yen, graduate of the EMBA program at the College of Management as of 2017, gave a speech and said humbly that it was very difficult to enter the University and he managed to do so only thanks to the Wu Bao-chun Clause, special enrolment regulations allowing people without a bachelor's degree to study for EMBA degree program; he expressed his appreciation for the title of Outstanding Alumnus and thanked his alma mater and the faculty for the recommendations and guidance, and his classmates and wife for coming to support him on stage.
Hsuan-Mao Robert Hu – President of Anatek Enterprise Co., LTD., a BS graduate of the Department of Chemistry (1989) extended gratitude to his teachers for their guidance and an internship opportunity at China Steel Corporation, where he could get acquainted with the most advanced technologies for slag ocean dumping, which made him get involved in the industry of instrumentation and meet his first love and now wife Hui-Ling Chen. He expressed his hope for more future cooperation with his alma mater.
Chung-Hui Huang is a 2013 graduate of EMBA program and Chairman of Ba Ba Business, which has been in the construction industry for more than 20 years now. As his company achieved success, Huang did not forget its social responsibility and supported the establishment of the College of Medicine of NSYSU, hoping to help the University cultivate medical professionals and realize the vision of the School of Post-Baccalaureate Medicine. Huang’s wife Ya-Jung Pan, his family, employees of Ba Ba Business, and other alumni of the EMBA class of 2013 came to attend the ceremony and celebrate together.
Winston Lee, a graduate of the Department of Foreign Languages and Literature of 1994, is the President of Taiwan Twine and Rope Co., Ltd., describing his company’s products as the best of their kind. When he was a student, Lee played in the Grand English Drama of the Department of Foreign Languages and Literature. After achieving success in management and production, he has been donating funds to support the yearly performance of the Drama. On the day of the ceremony, he came back to the University accompanied by his mother to receive the Outstanding Alumnus Award.
Jiranuwat Swaspitchayaskun – Associate Dean of the Faculty of Humanities at Naresuan University in Thailand graduated from the master's program at the Institute of Mainland China Studies (2007) and the doctoral program at the Institute of China and Asia-Pacific Studies (2014). Because of the pandemic, Professor Swaspitchayaskun could not come to receive the award personally, and thus he recorded a video extending his gratitude to the University and expressing acknowledgment for the democratic spirit of Taiwan that he believes Thailand should adopt; he often talks about the development of Taiwanese democracy with his students.
The ceremony was attended by three Senior Vice Presidents: I-Yu Huang, Shiow-Fon Tsay, and Mitch Chou, Deans of each College, faculty, and both Outstanding Alumni and awardees of Honorary Doctorates of the University, Chin-Nan Hsieh - Chairman of Lung Ching Steel Enterprise, Eric Lee - Chairman of Jiu Zhen Nan Foods, President of NSYSU Alumni Association of Pingtung Ming-Jung Hung, President of NSYSU Alumni Association of Kaohsiung David Huang, President of NSYSU Alumni Association of Tainan Kun-Lung Liao, and many Outstanding Alumni and awardees’ friends and family, who came to attend the ceremony.
