Awards for outstanding NSYSU teachers conferred

National Sun Yat-sen University organized a ceremony to congratulate its teachers on their outstanding work. NSYSU President Ying-Yao Cheng personally handed in rewards and academic titles of Sun Yat-sen Chair Professor, Distinguished Professor, and Distinguished Junior Research Scholar to several professors.
Faculty members who obtained the title of Sun Yat-sen Chair Professor this year are: Professor of the Center for General Education Huann-Shyang Lin and Professor of the Department of Materials and Optoelectronic Science Mitch Chou. Professors awarded the title of Distinguished Professor are: Professor Chun-I Fan of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Professor of the Department of Materials and Optoelectronic Science Shiao-Wei Kuo, Professor of the Department of Electrical Engineering Kao-Shing Hwang, Professor of the Institute of Environmental Engineering Yuan-Chung Lin, Professor of the Department of Information Management Chao-Min Chiu, and Professor of the Department of Physics Feng-Chuan Chuang. Awardees of the title of Distinguished Junior Research Scholar are: Associate Professor Hung-Wei Yang of the Institute of Medical Science and Technology, Assistant Professor Yu-Jen Shih of the Institute of Environmental Engineering, and Assistant Professor Fu-Kang Wang of the Department of Electrical Engineering.
Several teachers were praised for their achievements outside the campus: Distinguished Professor Kao-Shing Hwang of the Department of Electrical Engineering for winning the 2020 Outstanding Research Award by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Director of Aerosol Science Research Center Chia C. Wang for publishing the article Airborne transmission of respiratory viruses as the first author in Science, an internationally renowned journal, Assistant Professor of the Department of Physics Shin-Ming Huang for being listed as Highly Cited Researcher for 2020, and Associate Professor Hung-Wei Yang of the Institute of Medical Science and Technology, Assistant Professor Yu-Jen Shih of the Institute of Environmental Engineering, and Assistant Professor Fu-Kang Wang of the Department of Electrical Engineering for winning the 2021 Ta-You Wu Memorial Award.
