NSYSU, Microsoft, Institute for Information Industry to jointly promote technological innovation in Asia

The Southern Taiwan Industry Promotion Center (STIPC) at NSYSU, Microsoft Taiwan, and the Institute for Information Industry (III) signed a collaboration agreement at Kaohsiung’s Startup Terrace. The agreement was signed by the Director of STIPC Ken-Huang Lin, Global Partner Solution General Manager of Microsoft Taiwan Jerry Chen, and Executive Vice President of III Po-Jen Hsiao. NSYSU President Ying-Yao Cheng, Chief Secretary Long-Fon Hsieh of Small and Medium Enterprise Administration, Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA), and Deputy Mayor of Kaohsiung City Ta-Sheng Lo witnessed this important milestone.
According to NSYSU, STIPC has over 10 years of experience in the promotion of ICT (information and communication technology) , possessing rich experience and sufficient resources in southern Taiwan. The collaboration with international companies, such as Microsoft Taiwan, is to support tech startups with consultation and nurturing. The cooperation with Microsoft will be centered on its core service – the cloud service and the promotion mechanism of Microsoft Accelerator. STIPC will assist in the overall counseling and operation. The program is expected to be officially launched in 2022, with a brand new arrangement and mechanism to nurture southern Taiwan, and jointly foster the capacity, growth, and strength of startups in the Asia New Bay Area.
Asia New Bay Area is part of the government’s Great South, Great Development Policy. The Small and Medium Enterprise Administration injects resources in the Startup Terrace located in Kaohsiung Software Technology Park to make it become an international entrepreneurship hub, focusing on nurturing startups and actively inviting major representative companies to jointly promote industrial development, support the collaboration between large companies and startups, make startups grow in the process, and connect with international talent, capital, technologies, and markets, and encourage more contractors to invest in 5G AIoT industry.
NSYSU President Ying-Yao Cheng said that NSYSU is a benchmark research university, which puts into play its education and research capacity in southern Taiwan. Besides cultivating many talents in the fields of electrical machines, information and communication technology, it has invested in the technological R&D for semiconductor growth, established a 5G experimental area on campus, assisted students and the industry in a seamless alliance. STIPC, founded in 2009, established a presence in Kaohsiung Software Technology Park to support local technology and innovative industrial development to fulfill NSYSU’s social responsibility to the local economy. STIPC has been providing consultancy services for the industry for over 10 years, expanded its role to smart technology, nurtured network, education, and research capacity of the large enterprises in southern Taiwan, and has been an important driving force of industrial transformation in southern Taiwan. NSYSU hopes to collaborate with Microsoft in the future, make use of Microsoft’s capacity for innovation, connect with future scientists, and export the innovation of the Asia New Bay Area overseas.
