All the teachers and students in the school feel honored and very proud of him.

Chair Professor Tzyy-Sheng Horng's outstanding research has attracted domestic and global attention. He is a pioneer in the electrical research of System-in-Package (SiP) in the world and has promoted Taiwan's semiconductor industry to have world-class competitiveness in SiP technology. In 2018, he co-authored the book "3D ICs and RF SiPs: Advanced Stacking and Planar Solutions for 5G Mobility" with Professor Lih-Tyng Hwang from the Department of Electrical Engineering. The book was published by Wiley-IEEE Press, an internationally renowned press, and also won the honor of the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) Most Influential Research Monograph in 2020.

In addition, Chair Professor Tzyy-Sheng Horng put his original Self-Injection-Locking (SIL) radar research results into practice in industrial applications, intellectual property protection, technology transfer, and the establishment of new start-up companies. He obtained more than 80 domestic and foreign patents, of which about 30 patented technologies have been transferred and authorized to domestic and foreign manufacturers, with a total contracted authorization amount of nearly NTD 100 million. Chair Professor Horng published more than 250 papers in international top journals and conferences, supervised more than 20 doctoral students and 120 master students, and spared no effort in cultivating talents.

Chair Professor Tzyy-Sheng Horng has won the NSTC Academic Outstanding Research Award twice, as well as the NSTC FutureTech Award, the Ministry of Education Industry-Education Cooperation Award, ASE Chair Professor, and IEEE Fellow. Due to his outstanding achievements in the professional field, he was selected as the convener of the Communications Engineering Program of the NSTC, a committee member of the Technology Development Program of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, and an Associate Editor of IEEE journals. His research contributions are internationally renowned and have won numerous awards.

The Pan Wen Yuan Foundation was established to commemorate the contributions of Pan Wen Yuan, a Chinese who lived in the United States more than 40 years ago. The missions of the Pan Wen Yuan Foundation plan to establish Taiwan's integrated circuit industry, drive the growth and vigorous development of Taiwan's information communication industry, and cultivate young scientific and technological talents. The foundation issues a variety of awards every year to recognize outstanding Chinese in the fields of semiconductors, information, and communications, as well as to cultivate potential scientific and technological talents. Since its establishment 27 years ago, the number of awardees has reached nearly 2000, affirming their outstanding innovation contributions in the field of science and technology.
