To further promote the joint development of international talent and Taiwan's industries, and to support overseas Chinese and international students in securing employment in Taiwan after graduation, National Sun Yat-sen University (NSYSU) has officially launched the "Career and Employment Hub for International Students." The Hub will integrate academic and industry resources, collaborating with businesses to offer professional and Mandarin language courses (including internships), career development activities, corporate visits, and job shadowing opportunities. It aims to nurture international talent tailored to the needs of Taiwanese industries, establish comprehensive career counseling and employment support systems, help international students navigate Taiwan's job market, and strengthen alumni ties, building a robust support network for international talent development in Taiwan.
The unveiling ceremony was attended by NSYSU Senior Vice President Chih-Wen Kuo, Vice President for Industry Collaboration Wei-Chih Lin, Vice President for International Affairs Ming-Hsuan Lee, and Associate Dean of the College of Social Sciences Brian C. H. Fong. The event featured a live musical performance by Chang-Hao Chen, an overseas Chinese student from Malaysia majoring in the Department of Information Management, who played songs from Vietnam, Malaysia, and Indonesia, officially launching the Hub to support the career development of international students. Vice President for Industry Collaboration Wei-Chih Lin emphasized that the Hub's exterior design features Kaohsiung's mascot "Kaohsiung Bear - Hero," blended with the classic recruitment poster style and the slogan "I Want You," symbolizing the spirit of "Team Taiwan." It welcomes outstanding international and overseas Chinese students to join Taiwan's workforce, grow together with Kaohsiung, and co-create a promising future.
Senior Vice President Chih-Wen Kuo noted that central and local governments are jointly promoting initiatives such as the "Great South, Great Development - the Southern Taiwan Development Policy," the "Asia New Bay Area 2.0-Smart Technology Innovation Park Promotion Plan," and the "Semiconductor S Corridor," attracting global tech giants like TSMC, AUO, Pegatron, and AMD to Kaohsiung. As a result, Kaohsiung has risen as a global semiconductor hub, significantly boosting the demand for high-tech talent in southern Taiwan.
"Taiwan, as a global leader in technology and semiconductors, is at the forefront of industry innovation, with the government heavily investing in southern Taiwan to drive industrial upgrading and transformation," said Senior Vice President Kuo. He added that NSYSU, setting a core objective to become a driving force for industry innovation in southern Taiwan, is collaborating with companies to establish advanced industrial research institutes and courses, cultivating high-level talent capable of solving innovation challenges, and aiming to become the most influential technology talent hub in southern Taiwan.
During the "NSYSU 2025 Kaohsiung–Pingtung Job Fair," a dedicated "International and Overseas Chinese Student Recruitment Zone" was set up. In collaboration with the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) under the guidance of the Industrial Development Administration, Ministry of Economic Affairs, NSYSU also held the "Asia New Bay Area Employment Seminar for International Students," inviting ICT and semiconductor industry leaders such as LITE-ON Technology, Radiant Opto-Electronics, Linker Vision, QNAP, and Intelligent Cloud Plus to share insights on the demand for international talent and preparations for employment in Taiwan. One-on-one interviews were also provided to help international students connect directly with the job market and enhance their employment prospects.
NSYSU emphasized that Taiwan's technological advancement not only drives economic growth but also strengthens its global market integration. The university also looks forward to working together with Southeast Asian countries for shared prosperity and development. At this pivotal moment of transformation and growth, NSYSU sincerely invites international and overseas Chinese students to seize this rare opportunity, join Taiwan's thriving tech industry, and help create a win-win future for both global talent and businesses, forging a new era of shared prosperity between Taiwan and the world.
