Chair Professor Jimmy C. M. Kao, the Awardee of the MOE 66th Annual Academic Award

(Provided by Office of Research and Development) Congratulations to Chair Professor Jimmy C. M. Kao of the Institute of Environmental Engineering, National Sun Yat-sen University, for receiving the honor of the 66th Annual Academic Award from the Ministry of Education (MOE) in the field of Engineering and Applied Sciences. His expertise is in the restoration of polluted environments, including soil bioremediation, pollution control and remediation, wetland conservation and remediation, watershed management, and the development of environmental sustainability.
Chair Professor Kao has developed many types of innovative and cost-effective technologies for environmental restoration, such as slow-releasing and long-lasting oxidants and bio-reagents, bio-barrier and treatment train system technologies, green surfactants and chelating agents, and biologics and bacterial immobilization technologies. He won many prestigious honors and awards because of his outstanding academic achievement.
He received twice the Outstanding Research Awards from the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) in the year 2011 and 2015, and the TECO Award in 2017. It was a fruitful year in 2018, he individually won the Y. Z. Hsu Scientific Paper Award in the category of Green Technology, and won first place with his students in the TECO Green Tech International Contest. More awards come to Chair Professor Kao consecutively, he received the First Class Academic Medal of Environmental Protection from the Environmental Protection Administration, Executive Yuan in 2019. In 2021, his research team won the MOST Future Tech Award.
Chair Professor Kao accumulates great research power for years and stands out in the competition of the 2022 MOE Annual Academic Awards this year. He brings himself the highest academic honor, and he is the pride of National Sun Yat-sen University.
