NSYSU Department of Nursing partners with NTU to share top-tier faculty through a new MOU

A new milestone has been reached in the collaboration between National Sun Yat-sen University (NSYSU) and the College of Medicine at National Taiwan University (NTU). The Department of Nursing at NSYSU and the School of Nursing at NTU have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Teaching and Research Collaboration, further strengthening nursing education cooperation between southern and northern Taiwan through faculty exchange, cross-campus teaching, and academic collaboration. In the future, students enrolled in the NSYSU Department of Nursing will gain access to NTU-level premier nursing education resources, creating a new advantage for nursing talent cultivation in southern Taiwan.
According to the NSYSU Department of Nursing, the MOU outlines a wide range of future collaborative initiatives, including graduate-level course exchanges, faculty visits, cross-campus teaching, joint academic research, shared clinical practicum sites, and alumni engagement activities. Together, the two institutions aim to establish an inter-university teaching and research platform that integrates nursing education resources. Through collaborative faculty and curriculum development, students will gain exposure to more diverse perspectives in clinical care and the latest academic advancements, further strengthening their professional practice and research capabilities.
Bor-Ching Sheu, Senior Vice President of NSYSU and Interim Dean of the College of Medicine, noted that healthcare systems are currently facing major challenges, including population aging, chronic diseases, and the rapid advancement of smart healthcare technologies. Future nursing professionals must therefore possess skills in interdisciplinary integration, awareness of humanistic care, and technological competence. Through cooperation with the NTU School of Nursing, NSYSU expects to enhance its nursing education and research capacity further while cultivating a new generation of nursing professionals capable of meeting future healthcare demands. Su-Er Guo, Chair of the Department of Nursing at the College of Medicine at NSYSU, added that the partnership will not only elevate teaching and research quality at both institutions but also strengthen healthcare talent cultivation and clinical care capacity in southern Taiwan, enabling students in the region to access top-tier nursing education resources at NSYSU.
As societies age and the demand for smart healthcare and health services continues to grow rapidly, the role of nursing professionals is also transforming. NTU's School of Nursing has long been recognized for its strengths in clinical care, nursing research, and advanced talent cultivation, supported by the comprehensive teaching and research resources of a leading medical center. In fact, NSYSU, NTU, and the Kaohsiung City Government began advancing healthcare collaboration as early as 2025. NSYSU and NTU signed agreements on teaching and research cooperation to jointly engage in academic research, education, and clinical collaboration, while also assisting in the transformation and upgrading of Kaohsiung Municipal Min-Sheng Hospital. The newly signed MOU between the two nursing departments further symbolizes the continued deepening of cooperation between the two universities.
